The Office of Smith & Wesson issued a Letter of Authenticity.  In 1957 when Model numbers were assigned the 1905 became the Model 10.  On March 5, 1926 this revolver was shipped to Shapleigh Hardware Company in St. Louis, Missouri. The Company was a major supplier for Smith & Wesson.

I purchased this Model 1905 in 1996 from the family of a retired New York City Policeman: This was his duty weapon and holster.  The revolver was shipped with a blue finish, checkered walnut grips and a five inch barrel, which is as it appears.  Everything is original.

The Blue is at least 90% with the end of barrel wear and a minor scuff on the frame below the hammer.  Although the grips are worn there is a lot of checkering left. This Model 1905 looks as though it hasn’t been fired so it was well maintained.  The cylinder release is silver color, but I don’t know if it was replaced.
